Eurostars funding information for Bulgaria
SME
Eurostars is part of the European Partnership on Innovative SMEs. The partnership is co-funded by the European Union through Horizon Europe.
Bulgarian funding body, Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), funds R&D costs for SMEs participating in our Eurostars programme.
BSMEPA covers up to 80% of project costs in grants for SMEs.
Bulgarian SMEs can receive up to 50% of eligible project costs for industrial scientific research or up to 25% of eligible costs for experimental development.
The maximum funding percentage for industrial scientific research and experimental development can be increased by 10% for medium-sized enterprises, 20% for micro and small enterprises or by 15% to a maximum of 80% of eligible costs if:
- your project is an effective cooperation between enterprises with at least one SME and where activities are carried out in at least two European Union Member States or in one European Union Member State and a country that has signed the European Economic Area Agreement;
- your project is an effective cooperation between an enterprise and one or more research and knowledge dissemination organisation responsible for at least 10% of eligible costs and which has the right to publish results of its own scientific research.
The maximum funding amount is a grant of 100,000 euro per project. The exact funding amount depends on whether your project activities fall into the category of industrial scientific research or experimental development.
Please note that if there is more than one Bulgarian participant in a single project, the funding amount of 100,000 euro applies for each Bulgarian participant.
Large company

Bulgaria currently has no allocated budget for large companies participating in our Eurostars programme. If you are a Bulgarian large company wanting to participate in an Eurostars consortium, contact the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) to see whether there are other funding opportunities available or talk to them about self-funding.
Research organisation or university
